PSF: Growing Up

I’ve been completely absent from Photo Story Friday for way too long. It’s been a variety of excuses, the main one being I really just haven’t been taking much pictures.

From summer09

So, this one was worthy of PSF. All I can say is “where did my little baby boy go?” When I downloaded these photos and saw this one, I just couldn’t get over it. It’s pictures like these that remind me how grown-up he is getting. When he turned 5 last year, my husband and I were in awe. Five seemed so big and grown up. But this August he will turn 6 and start school. I am really beginning to realize what a big deal that is. For a kid who I gave up to child care when he was 7 weeks old I’ve really kind of shrugged off the kindergarten thing. I mean, I’ve been leaving him at various different places for years.

From summer09

But, it’s beginning to hit me and hit me hard. I’m just praying for a very sweet summer. One where we just play, relax and really just enjoy one another….before this next season of life begins.

PSF: Wiser than their Years

A friend commented on a photo the other day how wise children are and how you can see it in their eyes. These photos remind me of how often God uses these little people in my life to teach me such big lessons.

From christmas08

I am reminded this day to be so thankful for what I have been given. I am surrounded by so many friends that are going through such heartache with relationships, sick children and so many other things. Their faith remains so strong and it is their children that seem to bring them such peace in the midst of their struggles…even when the struggle is because of them.

From christmas08

I pray that I would not get so caught up in my wants and frustrations and that I would seek to focus on the daily step by step. That I would seek a wisdom that is greater than any knowledge I could even know and that I would continually be thankful for these little blessings that Jesus has given me.

Visions of a Party: Part 2 & PSF

Little Chick’s birthday party went off without a hitch. I had so much fun decorating and setting up all these little friends all over the house and her face when she walked in (my parents had kept her all afternoon) truly was priceless.

The cake (crazy, crazy full of blue dye) really was pretty good and she loved it!

The cupcakes were fun and turned out pretty cute (if you can’t tell it is Elmo, Grover and Ernie)

I set up her little friends all over the house:

Big Bird,

Cookie Monster,

Ernie,

ernie and his rubber duckie

Elmo with his goldfish Dorothy.

and my favorite Sesame Street Little People (which she plays with all the time!)

It really was fun and she was crazy funny all night long.

PSF: I Never…

n1389462115_149073_6507

I never knew that mothering full time would be so fulfilling, but so draining at the same time.

n1389462115_149074_7571

I never knew that loving someone could be so easy, but so hard at the same time.

n1389462115_149075_5

I never knew that staying at home could give me so much time and freedom, but so little time and freedom.

n1389462115_149076_1645

I never knew that I could laugh and smile so much.

n1389462115_149164_9317

I never knew that I could give up so much, and yet regret is so little.

n1389462115_149165_589

I never knew that I could glimpse God so much in the face of my little children and be reminded daily of His awesome love for me through them.

(Thanks to my friend Liz for all these awesome pictures. They were taken at a yearly bonfire that our church has on All Saints Sunday)

PSF: Faces of Little Rooster

I get so irritated with my husband sometimes who will stand there with the camera and just take picture after picture…but then I saw this and saw the reason behind why he does it! This was all within about 1-2 minutes, all these crazy faces of my funny little boy.
