I was reading through my google reader today and came across this post at Amy Karol’s blog about homemade beauty stuff. She made a sugar scrub and left a couple of links for some other goodies. I know an awesome soap maker from whom I can get a lot this stuff without having to make it myself, but it is good to have what looks to be an awesome resource if I actually wanted to try my hand at making some of it. Check it out!

(Even as I type this though I kind of feel like in the back of my mind that it will be as about as likely to happen as me making my own baby food!)

Uh Oh

is why I can’t do this…

and don’t feel too guilty about doing this…

or this…

I hyper-extended the exorblahblah tendon and some nerves in my ankle. I did it about a month ago and kind of ignored it, but it has steadily gotten worse so I finally went to the doctor yesterday. I think the man took great pleasure in repeatedly pushing and pulling and watching me say “ouch! that is where it hurts” over and over again. Luckily I can get around just fine, just no calf raises, running or that kind of strenuous stuff. Two weeks of icing an hour a day and some anti-inflammatory meds. Here’s hoping it gets better soon or I’m really going to look lousy in a bathing suit! 🙂

Co-Housing…Would you do it?

One of the blogs I read often is called GreenStyle Mom and she lives in a co-housing community in Colorado. I had never heard of such a thing before. I guess my dear hubbie had actually read about it once in the bookstore and I had kind of just blown him off (sorry honey!) but when I started looking at the co-housing website and other things, it really kind of struck me.  GreenStyle Mom just posted a link to some introductory videos about co-housing communities and it really does make you think that might be something our little town is ready for….would you do it?

What is interesting is that most of these communities are not “religious” necessarily. Most seem to have the same view of religion that our society has (what ever works for you, just don’t push it on me) so it would be neat to start a community that strives for true community…through fellowship with one another, but also through worship and through serving with an eye toward Christ.
