I was on a bit of a sewing spree a few weeks ago and haven’t had a chance to share some of the things I stitched up. I’ve got a slew of patterns and fabric I’m hoping to sew through this summer so stay turned for more pattern reviews as the summer goes on.
The latest thing I stitched up was this Plaintain tee from Deer and Doe. This is a free pattern and it’s awesome. It comes together so quickly and the fit is nearly perfect.
This is the second one of these I’ve made and while there are a handful of other t-shirt patterns out there I want to try, I really think this is going to be one of my constant stand-byes.
I also stitched up another t-shirt that had been in my pattern stack for a while and it was an odd one. It was the hemlock tee by grainline patterns. It’s a free tutorial and honestly it’s a bit wacky. I don’t dislike it, but I’m really not quite sure about it. I think it will be a great cover up for the summer 🙂
I made a couple more pairs of these city gym shorts by Purl Bee for my chick. I have to say that this really is an awesome pattern. The trickiest part is the bias binding, but once you’ve got that down you are golden. I actually cut mine 2 inches wide this go around and I think it worked out a lot better.
Probably my favorite thing I’ve sewn has been this Wiksten tank. Truly, I’ve looked for a great tank pattern and this one totally fits the bill. I see many, many more of these in my future. It comes together pretty smoothly and the fit is awesome. There’s an optional pocket on the front, which I wasn’t going to add, but in the end I kind of feels like it gives more a finished look.
What have you been sewing?
