Stuck is a great word for me because I feel like that’s where I am most of the time.
My stubborn tendencies and lack of true belief in the One True God, lead me to be always searching around the corner for that next better thing.
This morning I was reading the story of the crossing of the Red Sea with Moses and I was just struck by this favorite Sunday School story this morning. Talk about the feeling of being stuck.
The Lord led the Israelites all the way up to the edge of the Red Sea. I have to think that they thought this a dead end. I have to wonder how many of them were asking Moses what the plan was now.
And then they see the chariots of the Pharaoh coming.
But I caught the words today that the Lord led them to this exact spot
in order to show His glory. He tells Moses that He is going to harden Pharaoh’s heart so that they will come after them. But all so that they would know that
the great I AM is the Lord.
Even better is the phrase that Moses says to the panicking Israelites “The Lord will fight for you. You only need to be still.” And I marked that verse in my Bible years ago, but never really caught the next few lines. God basically declares…what are you doing Moses? Don’t just stand there, raise your hands up and MOVE! And at that Moses raises his hands up and the waters start to part. They people weren’t supposed to just sit there and be still, they had to get up and start walking.
So what felt like a dead end and what the were facing seemed impossible and this time the Lord told them to get moving.
Sometimes we have to stop waiting on the Lord to just come and fight for us, because sometimes He fights for us by getting us to move. That’s how we get unstuck.
