“Whoever looks at me is looking at the one who sent me. I am the Light that has come into the world so that all who believe won’t stay in the dark.” John 12
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world…The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1
When I think of focusing on the Light, I think of being in a tunnel or a cave and holding a flashlight. When I move my eyes out of the aura of the light, I see darkness and shadows. The shadows easily grow into things that aren’t true and into things that our imagination creates. We move into the “no-mans land of dangerous imaginations.” The darkness can easily overcome us and we lose our way. If we don’t lose our way, the darkness can also cause us to miss all the things that the light was shining on.
When we focus only on what is in the light, we see what is ahead. We see what is real and true. A light can only shine so far ahead. The light forces us to stay within the present, the now. We can only see and take on and plan for so much. And there are times that this light shines on a curve and we have to go around it. Scary I know. But that is when we are called into greater faith. Faith that whatever is around that corner, the light is only going to shine far enough for us to handle it.
