embroidered dress: sneak peek

I’ve pretty much decided that sewing clothes is not going to be my first and foremost line of business. I love doing most of it, but I hate sewing the same thing over and over again. BUT, I’ve had it in my mind to do a small line of clothes that have been hand appliqued/embroidered. I’m trying to fill that space in time where little girls are almost too big for smocked dresses, but still need a little bit of cuteness in there. I started this idea with hand embroidering onto my play skirts and today I added another garment.

Here’s a sneak peek at my first attempt. This is Portabellopixie’s Gracie pattern and it’s pretty simple. I love the lines of this jumper and I was so worried the collar wouldn’t turn out right, but I’m really pleased with the results.

I also love, love, love this pocket.

It’s still not 100% complete, but I couldn’t wait to share it!
