wordless

I am kind of feeling wordless lately. Partly due to traveling and being in new places, partly being out of routine. I am constantly reminded that there is one that prowls around like a lion, ready to pounce. As I become more and more aware of how I was so easily attacked and those areas that he pounced on, I realize how he is moving on to other ways to tempt me away from the One who holds me close. So, while the words of my heart take a rest and find their voice, here are some words of others that are keeping me constant.

From Jesus Calling:

Concentrate on keeping in step with me, instead of trying to anticipate My plans for you…relax and enjoy the present moment.

Glorifying and enjoying Me is a higher priority than maintaining a tidy, structured life. Give up your striving to keep everything under control…I am with you continually so don’t be intimidated by fear. Though it stalks you, it cannot harm you as long as you cling to my hand.

The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to His power at work within us. Ephesians 3:20

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket — safe, dark, motionless, airless — it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation. The only place outside of Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is Hell. C.S. Lewis from The Four Loves

God invites us to risk trusting him and enter into redemptive friendships with others – to open ourselves up to the poosbility of being hurt as well as to the possibility of tasting the sweet fruit of companionship. Fallen Eve withdraws in order to protect herself…Redeemed Eve is safe and secure in her relationship with her Lord, she can risk being vulnerable with others and offer her true self. Stasi Eldredge from Captivating.

And a song that is hitting my heart:
I Am by Jill Phillips

Oh gently lay your head
Upon my chest
And I will comfort you
Like a mother while you rest
The tide can change so fast,
But I will stay
The same through the past,
The same in future, same today

CHORUS:
I am constant; I am near
I am peace that shatters all your secret fears
I am holy; I am wise
I’m the only one who knows your heart’s desires
Your heart’s desires

Oh weary, tired and worn,
Let out your sighs
And drop that heavy load you hold
Cause Mine is light

I know you through and through;
There’s no need to hide
I want to show you love
That is deep and high and wide

CHORUS(2x)

Oh gently lay your head
Upon my chest
And I will comfort you
Like a mother while you rest
