I’m not sure I’ve ever had so much fun redoing a room. I guess in any house we’ve lived in, we’ve never really started over like we have with this room. I am including a few before shots from when we moved in (prior to the backed up sewage):
the sewing nook before
and our plans for the nook:
the entertainment wall before:
Picking out paint has just about killed me. I scoured etsy for hours trying to get some fabric inspiration. Finally, I just went to the paint websites and started messing around. We got some sample paints of these last night and once I saw them in person, all my doubts disappeared. The darker color (Mosaic Tile) will be on the longest wall and the rest of the room will be the lighter color (Bon Voyage).
We are painting the ceiling a very, very, very light blue (almost really white). I couldn’t find the paint sample to share.
Flooring has been another big issue. We have gone back and forth with tiling (which seems SO cold!) and laminate. Yesterday we came across an in between kind of flooring called Allure Resilient Plank Flooring. It is kind of reminiscent of the sticky floor tiles, but thicker and it seems better quality. It is supposed to be water resistant and good for basements. It’s about $0.50 more a square foot than we wanted to pay, but it may win out in the end.
There it is folks. I’m getting pretty excited. Although, we have a big plumbing project that has to get done (cross your fingers for a giant tax refund!) before we can think about buying flooring. Until then, we (actually the husband) will be plugging away at painting and trim work.
