Last night, for our anniversary, we went and saw Prince Caspian. It is the next installment in the Chronicles of Narnia movies. It was fabulous, although I will admit about half way through the movie I was getting a little upset because this tale is a bit darker than the LWW. But as the movie came to a climax, I began to get chills as I really thought about the message of the movie. The most powerful part for me came with Aslan finally did appear. I won’t give it away, but the verse that kept resounding in my head was Mark 4:40-41: And He said to them, “Why are you so timid? How is it that you have no faith?” And they became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
My husband’s favorite part was when Lucy finally did find Aslan (or rather he found her) and he asks her why she didn’t come earlier? She declares it was because she was afraid and because the others didn’t believe her.
The gist of the whole movie is about having faith in things unseen, even in the worst of times and stepping out in your faith, even when others don’t believe or others think what you are doing is cracked up. It was beautiful!
I never read these when I was younger and I tried to get into them after the LWW came out, but now I’m afraid I’m turning into a crazy Narnian wannabe! 🙂
